If an authentication flow relies on an external MFA service, such as Airlock 2FA or an SMS gateway, users may be unable to sign in when that service is unavailable.
To maintain user access during an interruption, consider configuring a fallback authentication flow that uses an alternative service provider or authentication method when the primary service cannot be reached. For external gateways such as SMS- or email gateways, IAM provides configuration options to configure failover or fallback gateways. We highly recommend to configure fallbacks in the IAM configuration whenever available. Contact our experts if you need assistance.
